RECARO ProRide/Performance Ride Tether RECALL

(Last Updated On: October 17, 2018)

On September 15, 2015, RECARO announced a recall on their ProRide and Performance Ride convertible seats made between April 9, 2010 and June 9, 2015.RECARO is contacting registered owners and states there have been no injuries due to their concern and the seats still pass testing. Please continue to use your seat as per your instruction manual.

“In the event of a crash when used forward facing with a child over 52 pounds and the top tether attached to the vehicle, the top tether attachment area on the car seat shell could potentially crack or break loose. When the cracking or breaking occurred, the dynamic test scores that directly affect the child were still within the allowable limits of the FMVSS 213 standard. If the top tether breaks or detaches from the car seat, there is an increased risk of injury to the child.”

RECARO is sending out a fix kit containing a tether load redistribution strap and instructions for how to affix the new tether load redistribution strap to the car seat.
