We’ve sent a team of CSFTL representatives to a number of large trade shows like the ABC Kids Expo and the JPMA Baby Show. Beyond that, we’re able to send our team members to local shows as well! Two of our team members were able to attend the LA Baby Show and see what a local show is all about! While the show is geared towards parents (mostly expectant parents), as car seat enthusiasts we were not disappointed with our day at the show!
Our first stop was to see our friends at Clek. I’d seen the pictures of the new Tokidoki print from the ABC Baby Show, but I was eager to see it in person. It’s as pretty in person as we’d imagined! The new “Unicorno Disco” print is vibrant and fun! It will be available at the beginning of 2018.
While I love Tokidoki, we know it might not be your thing. But fear not, Clek offers a wide palette of both bright and muted solids. Speaking of which… we also had the chance to see the new Clek merino wool fabric! We were quite surprised at how soft it was. I guess I was expecting the feel of a rough wool sweater, but this is smooth and soft. Because it’s wool, it has no added flame retardants. This cover will be available on the Foonf and Fllo convertible seats soon and will be available on the Oobr booster following that.
At the Britax booth, we looked over some well-known seats as we walked by… and then we walked back. We noticed that the Clicktight convertibles seemed to have had some changes made. The crotch buckle entered the seat through a metal plate, not plastic… and could it be that the crotch buckle was longer?? Stay tuned for more developments in this area!
Next, we visited the Chicco booth. The Chicco Fit2 was prominently on display. We loved the sophisticated stripe pattern on the canopy!
Next stop, Doona. For those unfamiliar, the Doona is an innovative rear facing only car seat with wheels which drop down, eliminating the need for a Snap n Go. Doona will be introducing two new colors, including the Cherry color we saw at the show.
Safe Traffic Systems
We’ve long been fans of the Ride Safer Travel Vest (RSTV), and we were happy to see our friends from the manufacturer, Safe Ride 4 Kids. The RideSafer vest has been revamped a bit and now comes in two models, called the RideSafer Delight. It’s available with and without a top tether, in two different sizes. A neck pillow comes with it, for comfort when sleeping. Look for our review on these products soon!
The Delighter booster is designed to go underneath the vest or used separately. At just over 1 pound, it’s a nice option for carpooling or travel. We’ve tested this ourselves by taking the Delighter on a number of trips and it’s been a great option!
We also had the chance to stop by the Nuna booth to see the Pipa Lite. Check out our review of this new seat!
At the Peg Perego booth, we saw a demo of the new Viaggio Flex 120 booster and its “4D technology”. It even folds up, making it a good solution for travel.
And last of all, we CPSTs know the feeling of our kids trying to emulate us. I remember my daughter talking about “latch straps” when she was 3! For these young advocates, Joovy has just the thing. A rear facing only toy seat – with base! – and forward facing seat. Let your kids educate along with you this holiday season!
And with that, we wrap up our visit to the LA Baby Show. Thanks for joining us, and we hope to bring you more local trips in the future!
