Graco Canada Snugride 22 Safety Advisory

On May 14, 2015, a safety advisory was issued by Graco Canada, in conjunction with Transport Canada, regarding 1711 Snugride 22 rear facing only car seats with specific dates of manufacture and sold in 2013 and 2014. It was discovered that certain combinations of restraints and bases did not pass compliance testing.

Canadian Recall: Learning Curve VIA I470C Rear Facing Only Car Seat

The Via has been sold under the Lamaze and First Years brand names.

Independent testing has revealed that the seat does not pass required standard with regard to force to the head and chest. In addition, the recline foot may loosen in an impact, introducing slack to the installation, increasing the injury risk.

This is a serious life-safety recall. Caregivers should immediately stop using the seat and dispose of it so that it cannot be reused.

Britax ClickTight Concern

It has come to our attention that many of the Britax ClickTight convertible seats are being shipped without being assembled correctly. The harness is attached an anchor on either side of the seat at the hips. This anchor has a hook at the end that the harness must slide under to secure it. Some ClickTight convertibles are being shipped with the harness on the anchor but slid under the hook.

NHSTA has issued a recall on certain models of RECARO ProSport manufactured from June 16 2010 to January 31 2013.    If the ProSport is installed with lower anchors only, the head excursion in testing exceeds max allowed limits, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant. Evenflo Buckle Recall: Canada

If this problem occurs, it may be difficult or impossible to unlatch the buckle, which could delay the removal of a child from the seat and increase the risk of injury in an emergency situation in which a prompt exit from the vehicle is required. There is no risk if the buckle is not contaminated and is functioning normally.

Canadian Diono Radian Memory Foam Recall

Transport Canada’s compliance testing program revealed that without this foam insert, the loads felt by the 12-month old crash test dummy slightly exceeded the allowable limit. Transport Canada and Diono are concerned that in the event of a collision, a Radian restraint system not equipped with the memory foam insert may transmit excessive loads to the child occupant which could cause injury.

Baby Trend TrendZ Fastback 3-in-1 Buckle Recall

With the same news as Graco and Evenflo, Baby Trend, Inc. (Baby Trend) is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 TrendZ Fastback 3-in-1 child restraints, models FB60070 (Granite) and FB60408 (Jellybean), manufactured between October 2011 and July 2013. The defect involves difficulty in unlatching the harness buckle. In some cases, the buckle becomes stuck in a latched condition so that it cannot be opened by depressing the buckle’s release button.
